The Faroexpo organisers are pleased to announce that nonlocal participants can take part in a recreational activity, during the Faroexpo 2023. It consists of a tour named “Viking Tour”.

1. Navia sheep house and Navia shop  

The first part of the memorable experience is a visit to Navia sheep house in Toftir. Toftir is part of a chain of villages stretching on the east side of Skálafjørður, on Eysturoy island.  The visit is a once in a lifetime experience, involving the senses. Here, visitors can see, hear, smell, and taste the Faroese sheep. It consists of:

• An introduction to life on a farm
• Delicious appetizer, including
  • the famous “skerpikjøt” or air-dried lamb meat
  • homemade unleavened bread
  • homemade rhubarb juice

After this unforgettable visit, visitors are driven to Navia shop, where coffee is served. This time, you can see the wool production system. Navia advanced 3D machine knitting, the only one in the Danish kingdom, carries with it a sustainable production. As a bonus, Faroexpo participants get 10 % off all purchase.

2. XPERIMENT

Once the visit to Navia is over, the next leg of the experience is the church in Gøta, where Xperiment will perform contemporary Faroese folk ballads. Xperiment is well known in the Faroe Islands, and is the only choir on the islands to sing folk ballads.

The church in Gøta was dedicated on the 25^th of June 1995, in the presence of Her Majesty Margrethe II, and bishops from various Nordic countries. The church is decorated with glass artwork, in the form of windows, lamps, and altarpiece, by the famous international artist Tróndur Paturson.
